As our organization grows ever bigger, like Cranberry Twp., we need ever more parental participation in the whole CTAA process. We have begun this process by enlisting as many volunteers as possible to specific committees. I have found that many parents would like to participate. Most would like to help but just do not exactly know how or where to volunteer. Others may be willing to help in some small capacity but are afraid of taking on more responsibility than they are perhaps comfortable with. Well, the truth is we can use whatever help or time you can provide. We live in a wonderful community in which much talent exists. Whatever your talents, we can certainly find a place for them. So, please feel free to volunteer; no matter how little you feel that you can give it will be appreciated.

Manager- Managers are responsible for: running team, making necessary phone calls to parents, uniform handout, prepare field for you game, team equipment, and umpiring games if needed. Please fill out the Manager Application Form and  mail to CTAA, P.O. Box 1599, Cranberry Township, PA 16066. If you volunteer to be a Manager of a team, please be advised that a criminal background check will be performed. Please download and fill out form shown below.

Coach- Duties include assisting manager, helping with field maintenance, and umpiring games when called upon.

Concession Stand Manager- For the concession stand to operate effectively and efficiently, many volunteers are needed to act as Concession Stand Managers. Managers work in approximately four hour shifts. As a manager you may choose which shift better fits your schedule, and will never be asked to work during your child’s game. The manager calendar is distributed prior to the beginning of the ball season.

Monday - Friday Shifts are approximately 5:30pm to 9:30pm

Saturday shifts:

8:00am - 11:00am

11:00am - 2:00pm

2:00pm - 6:00pm

6:00pm - 9:30pm

Sunday shifts:

12:00pm - 3:00pm

3:00pm - 6:00pm

6:00pm - 9:30pm

This is a great way to become involved with the CTAA, have fun and meet people. No prior experience is necessary! Training is provided to all managers. It takes 24 volunteers for a two-week rotation. The more managers that volunteer the longer the rotation! The concession stand will open at the end of March/early April until July 4th. (Note: After the 4th, volunteers are always needed for boy's and girl's tournaments.)

If you are unable to volunteer as a concession stand manager, there are other areas where your service would be appreciated:

  • Order and pick up of hot dog/hamburger buns
  • Order and pick up of pepperoni rolls
  • Inventory and order pop, cookie dough, ice cream, candy etc.
  •

If you are interested in volunteering, attend the monthly CTAA meetings or see any board member.

The difference between a good organization and a great organization is the individuals that volunteer. Help make CTAA a GREAT organization.

Field Maintenance- Help is needed to groom the fields to them in optimum shape for games. Work would include, dragging the fields, placing topsoil where needed, general cleanup, etc. A group of individuals will be assigned a particular field that they would be responsible for.

Umpire - The CTAA employees youth and adult umpires for their in-house baseball programs in Mustang and Bronco. In order to be elligible to umpire a youth must be old enough to be elligible to play Pony League in baseball or Major Slow in softball. Initially youth umpires are assigned to umpire bases in the Mustang League, but as their experience continues to grow they begin to take on plate responsibilites and move onto umpire Bronco games.

During the winter the CTAA Umpire Coordinator, will schedule and hold several umpire clinics. At these clinics the umpires will cover the rules of baseball including the PONY Baseball and local CTAA modifications to those rules. At least one clinic will be dedicated to proper onfield mechanics and techniques.

Signs and Sponsors:This committee is responsible for the acquisition of new sign advertisers as well as team sponsors. This group would also renew previous sign patronage and sponsors while maintaining a constant positive image on behalf of the CTAA with our financial supporters. See the signs and sponsor page for more information.

Teenage Workers-Child must be at least 13 years of age or entering the 9th grade or higher. Teens will now be required to be part of a family which is a member of the CTAA i.e. the teen must either play in the CTAA or have a sibling who plays in the CTAA. In an effort to bring our age restrictions more in line with the rest of the CTAA any teen that is of age to play in either our Major Softball League or Pony League or higher is eligible to work in the Concession Stand. Those turning 19 years of age prior to May 1, 2008 are NOT eligible to work in the Concession Stand. Teens will be required to fill out an application and may be asked to interview in order to work in the Concession Stand.
